What a great first week we’ve had! I’m looking forward to the year and getting to know everyone. Here are a few things to tell you about my classroom. Please sign and return the portion on the bottom of the second page.
Dismissal- This next week is still a 2:06 dismissal week. Please send a note if your child is changing the way he/she goes home on any given day. If there is no note, your child will be sent home the regular way.
Our school day begins class at 8:00 a.m.
AR- You will be sent home a weekly report as to the tests taken, scores and percent of goal (once I assign goals). I will not assign goals until later in September. Tests taken before that time will still count toward their goal. I will send these reports home on Mondays, to be signed and returned on Tuesdays. I’d like you to sign them so that I know you are aware of the number of tests your child has taken, the score they received and the percent they are at.
Water Bottles-Feel free to bring these on hot days. Water only, please! If you have a huggie or cozy cup to put it in, that would really help in the bottle sweating and getting their desk and papers wet.
Birthdays-On your child’s birthday, you may send treats if you like. No homemade treats please (even though I know many of you are probably great cooks), only store bought. If you could let me know when you are sending them, it would be helpful. We currently have 20 students in our room. Summer birthdays, just schedule a day with me!
Toys from home-Do not send toys/balls, etc. from home with your child to school. They should only be brought for teacher requested special times, and are not to be played with at recess on those days.
Assignment Sheets-These can be found in the front of their take home (red) folders beginning next week. Most nights, they simply need to practice math facts and read for 15 min. **On Fridays, they will bring home their poetry notebook and read that week’s poem to 3 people (this means they have to read it 3 different times) and have them sign it. They can read it to one person, 3 times, if need be. Just put a 3x by your name. Any additional homework will be listed on that day of the week. Please initial each day on the evening they bring it home, so I know you’ve seen it. Even if they didn’t finish homework, please initial it, so I know you were aware of it.
P. E.-P.E. days are on Monday and Thursday, so please wear appropriate shoes/clothes.
Learning Center Check Out-The day for this is on Monday, so please make sure your child returns their books every Monday.
